A driver in Belmont killed one pedestrian and injured another before fleeing the scene early Monday morning, police say.
Police say 27-year-old Wally Dominguez was standing outside of 4419 Third Ave. around 5:30 a.m. when the vehicle struck him. A childhood friend says he went there celebrating his birthday Sunday night.
Investigators say the driver of a white BMW side-swiped an Acura and subsequently struck two pedestrians, pinning Dominguez against a Chevy and killing him. The BMW driver and a passenger fled the scene on foot. One witness says he heard multiple gunshots as well.
Police say no one was hit by gunfire, but they are trying to determine if shots were fired during the incident.
Sources tell News 12 that an argument started in one location and ended where Dominguez was killed. It's unclear if he was part of that argument.
The surviving victim suffered an ankle injury.
