An independent film written and produced by Bronx residents is earning international acclaim.
"Bx3M," produced and directed by Judith Escalona and Izzy Ruiz, was nominated for eight awards at an international film festival in Milan, Italy. It tells the story of three Latino teenagers coming of age and dealing with different issues like high school romance, sexual identity and a traumatic childhood experience.
Escalona and Ruiz went to Milan for the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema this week.
Escalona and Ruiz say they want to screen the film more in the Bronx and hope they can get it released in theaters.
