A deli shop in the Bronx has named a sandwich after a boy with a speech disorder to raise awareness about his condition.
JJ Busco's honored Christopher Dejesus Monday on Apraxia Awareness Day.
The 9 year old was diagnosed with apraxia when he was only 3 years old.
The speech disorder does not allow him to speak.
The Bruckner Boulevard deli added "The Little Giant" to their menu—a grilled chicken sandwich topped with bacon, American cheese, mayonnaise and ketchup.
Store manager Tom Potenzo says Dejesus and his family frequent the deli often, and the young boy always orders the same sandwich.
Potenzo says once he found out about Christopher’s condition, he wanted to help.
Proceeds from each sandwich will be donated to an apraxia awareness organization, staff at the deli say.
