Best of the Bronx: Elvis tribute artist calls Bronx home
An Elvis Presley tribute artist, who has gained national recognition and success through his performances, is proud to call the Bronx his home.
Gene DiNapoli's Throgs Neck basement is decorated with Elvis memorabilia; almost enough to fill the 37-year career the Bronx-born Italian has had as an Elvis tribute artist.
He has performed in 45 states in the U.S. and countries overseas.
DiNapoli says he was just 14 years old when he began following his idol. Soon after, dressing up and performing like the King became his passion.
He says one of his most memorable performances was in Memphis, Tennessee during Elvis week.
Sitting inside of his basement in his home which he calls "Graceland North," DiNapoli says he's even branched out to cover other classic artists like Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin, but he will always keep performing as Elvis just as long as people keep demanding it.
