Best of the Bronx: School awarded for emergency prep
P.S. 207 has been awarded by the New York City Emergency Management Department for preparing its students for the worst.
The institution was named "Ready School of the Year."
Emergency Management, along with the Department of Education, each year recognizes a school that stands out for safety and emergency preparedness.
Students at P.S. 207 wrote essays, made posters and created a 20-minute video on what it means to be a "ready kid." They got to meet "Ready Girl," Emergency Management's official safety mascot, and took a look inside the department's mobile crisis unit.
Students also made go-bags containing bottled water, flashlights, batteries and other emergency supplies. The bags will be in classrooms to remind students to always be prepared.
