A unique Bronx business has customers stopping to smell something other than roses.
Jean-Claude Deville is a chemist from "Society of Scent" in Mott Haven. He creates fragrances inspired by nature inside the borough's only private scent lab.
"To create a scent, you need a story. You need a reason," he told News 12.
Society of Scent's creative director Beatrice Dupire started the unique scent perfumery with three other entrepreneurs. She says the company will have a digital platform later this winter.
Their latest creation is a Valentine's Day-inspired fragrance called "Fabruary 14." Each bottle packs the scent of 1,000 roses.
The company plans to share the love with programs and workshop about fragrances for the Bronx community.
