A Bronx nonprofit has received more than $750,000 in funding from the Kellogg Foundation to help women who own home child care centers become better providers.

The Kellogg grant enables WHEDco to offer child care classes and help women with child care centers through the licensing and registration process.

Mildred Augustin has taken courses to become a professional child care provider through WHEDco. She says they took her step by step to get registered and fill out all the paperwork to be a licensed day care provider.

Augustin says that with universal pre-K being instituted, women with day care centers must become more professional so they can compete with the city child care centers.
