‘Bike the Block’ comes to Brownsville in DOT effort to promote healthy lifestyle

Brooklyn residents gathered in Brownsville Sunday for the annual “Bike the Block” event.
The city’s Department of Transportation held a one-mile bike ride to encourage New Yorkers to adopt a healthy lifestyle.  
The event included one-on-one workshops and refreshers from Bike New York for those who needed help on how to operate a bike.
The Department of Transportation and the Department of Health have been hosting “Bike The Block” events in all five boroughs.
