A series of bills aimed to help cab drivers and decrease congestion will soon be introduced in New York City, but ride-share companies say it's their customers who will be affected.
The five bills are focused on lowering fines, increasing wages and alleviating congestion. One of the bills puts a cap on the number of ride-sharing cars in the five boroughs.
Uber has taken to ads and social media to speak out against the bill. Lyft issued a statement saying, “This would take New York back to an era of standing on the corner and hoping to get a ride."
The City Council hopes to put the five bills to a vote next Wednesday.
