The Cadman Park Conservancy kicked off their second annual Juneteenth celebration Sunday in one section of Cadman Plaza Park, recently renamed Juneteenth Grove by New York City Parks.
In Brooklyn, the theme of the day was “Black Excellence”, as Black-owned business vendors, Black poets, DJs, artists, and dancers came out to celebrate with Brooklyn residents.
One of the main attractions of the special day was the Gowanus Wildcat Dance Team, whose performance was coupled with spoken word poetry.
People of all ages, races and walks of life came together to honor the now nationally recognized federal holiday Juneteenth with their peers.
