City leaders say this day will make sure the stories, journeys, and strides to success and prosperity made by Black women will never be silenced or overlooked again.

Councilmember Althea Stevens held the first 'Black Girl Magic Day' at City Hall. 
In February 2023, Stevens passed a resolution designating Feb. 15 as Black Girl Magic Day in New York City. It aims to uplift and symbolize the current and future generations of Black girls. 
City leaders say this day will make sure the stories, journeys, and strides to success and prosperity made by Black women will never be silenced or overlooked again.
