Black Lives Matter advocates rallied outside of the 44th Precinct Friday afternoon a viral video appears to show NYPD officers punching a man multiple times last Sunday after the Bronx Dominican Day Parade.
The video does not show what happened prior to the incident, but the man in the video, Armando Vargas, claims he was approached by police and asked to disperse, and they became aggressive.
The NYPD says Vargas has been charged with resisting arrest, obstructing government administration and disorderly conduct.
"Policies and practices must be investigated by the Department of Justice. We need action, direct action immediately," said BLM co-founder Chivona Newsome.
Vargas says he was punched 13 times and suffered a concussion. He is currently in talks with an attorney.
