Black-owned restaurants across the city are being highlighted as part of Black Restaurant Week.
The weeklong celebration of local Black-owned restaurants was first started in Houston seven years ago. Since then, they've expanded to include other cities across the country.
"That's what we thrive to do, is highlight some of those staples and up-and-coming restaurants," said Black Restaurant Week co-founder Derek Robinson.
This year marks the fourth annual Black Restaurant Week in New York City, where African American, African, and Caribbean cuisines are taking center stage
Around 160 local Black-owned food spots in the city are participating in the week, offering discounts and specials daily.
In addition to showcasing local Black-owned restaurants, organizers of the week say they'll also be providing support to eateries across the city through special events for the rest of 2023.
