Hundreds of donated guns from Nassau County are being shipped to Ukraine to help those fighting against the Russian invasion.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman announced Friday that he secured the shipment of more than 460 guns that were donated as part of the drive to help Ukraine.
The county executive says he worked with several agencies to get an export license for the firearms.
This will be the first shipment of donated guns to the Ukraine from the United States.
"Right now, the warfare is door to door," Blakeman says. "It's residents to residents and we have to let these peopel know that they have the means to protect themselves."
