The South Bronx Folk Festival kicked off this weekend to the beat of Puerto Rican Bomba music.
The music and movement originated from the slave trade and is still widely popular in Puerto Rico. Many in The Bronx say the familiar sound of the drums is a reminder of home.
Festival organizers say they're trying to make Bomba more well-known in the borough and that weekly classes are now being held at the El Fogon Center for the Arts.
