Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. says one of his goals in 2016 will be to add a bike lane to the Grand Concourse.
The Department of Transportation says the Bronx had more than 400 cycling injuries in 2014.
"Traffic is bustling by and [bicyclists] need a lane for themselves," says Diaz.
Motorists told News 12 that knocking out a lane on the already congested road may cause more traffic.
Diaz told News 12 that it's too early to know when a bike lane would come to the roadway, so bikers will need to watch their backs for now.
