Yankee Stadium was the backdrop for two Little League Baseball teams Tuesday for the sixth annual Borough President Cup.
Kids from the Rolando Paulino and Grand Slam teams came from a tournament open to students who excel academically. Players from each team must have a "B" average in school.
Organizers say the event gave students the opportunity to explore career options along the line as they competed for a chance to play in the legendary ballpark.
"For them it's a dream come true," says Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. "For me, as borough president, and the Yankees, it's a way to give back to the community. A way to push our young men to better themselves academically."
The Grand Slam team won the top prize.
