Bowling alleys are finally reopening across the city and business owners are eager to strike.
Funfest bowling alley in Mill Basin now has plastic separators between the lanes and social distancing stickers on the floor every 6 feet.
The owners say they are just happy to bring bowling back to families who have been cooped up throughout the pandemic.
To play a game, residents have to book a timed reservation, where the groups will be separated by two lanes at a distance of 11 1/2 feet. Everything will also be sanitized after each game.
"The thing is, when they come, if they don't feel safe…they won't come back, so we definitely want to show them this is a safe place to be," says owner Ramona Martin. "We're down quite a bit, we lost a lot of revenue and we're just praying that we can catch up and make things work."
The concessions stand will be closed, but there will be waiter service for food.
Funfest has been in the area for six decades and is very popular in the community.
The owner says they already held a bowling tournament recently.
For now, the alley can only operate at 50% capacity, but owners say they hope to get enough people playing to keep Funfest open.
