A breathwork class at the Riverdale Y is teaching people how controlling their breathing can reduce stress.
Kathleen Booker is a "conscious-connected breathwork" coach and has been teaching the power of breath for seven years. She says the goal of her classes is to show people how they can easily reduce stress, worry, anxiety and pain through controlled breathing.
"The breath gives them a tool they can use at any time, anywhere to just relax themselves," Booker says.
One of Booker's clients, Kim Daly, says that before taking breathwork classes, she was losing focus in her life, not knowing what she wanted to do personally or professionally. According to her, the classes have been life-changing.
In a city where calm can sometimes be hard to find, Booker says that it is more important than ever to take a second and breathe in and out.
