The shows must go on. And they will this fall on Broadway.

Tickets for Broadway shows go on sale today as the curtains prepare to open again Sept. 14.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that New Yorkers and people around the world will once again be able to enjoy Broadway performances at 100% capacity.

There are 41 theaters in Times Square, but it is unknown how many shows will be coming back on opening day.

The governor says safety protocols will still be a priority, meaning that theater-goers will have to wear masks, undergo a health screening and theaters will have to have a good cleaning system in place.

The Phantom of the Opera is scheduled to resume Oct. 22, according to their website. Diana The Musical will start in December.

Cuomo has not said if vaccinations or proof of a negative COVID test will be required.

Workers on Broadway, like production barber Khane Kutzwell, are excited to get back to the stage.

“We are just really, really happy to hear that because it means we get back to work, we get to see the actors who we been keeping in contact throughout this whole shutdown and reopening and all that,” Kutzwell says. “So it sounds like the show will be back up pretty soon, which is good for us.”

If shows need to be postponed due to public health concerns, theaters have planned to offer customers refunds and exchanges.
