A Bronx activist and former boxer won his battle with COVID-19 after spending 91 days undergoing treatment.
Jaran Manzanet walked outside Friday a COVID-19 survivor. He was welcomed by his family and closest friends, who say they prayed long and hard for his life every day.
Manzanet was put on a ventilator in the intensive care unit, and even fell into a coma for nearly 30 days. But like the strong boxer his family says he always was, he put up a fight.
His son Kelvin Manzanet says, "It's a lot to go through and we are still trying to find out about this coronavirus, but knowing that my dad pulled through is just an exciting feeling."
Manzanet says he can't wait to get back to work as a special aid to Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.
"I'm going to start doing my work in the community in a couple of weeks but I hope everything will be OK," says Manzanet.
He says being reunited with his closest friends and family is all he wanted and he truly will always be thankful for beating COVID-19.
