An adult day care in the Bronx is working to keep seniors in the community active and busy.
La Isla Adult Day Care says it is focused on creating a social and engaging environment with stimulating activities for older residents while providing the care and support they need.
The day care, which is open Monday through Friday, offers plenty of fun activities like word finds, dominos, salsa dance parties and much more. The one-stop shop for their needs also includes access to home care, transportation services, physicians and counselors.
For Luis Alverado, the consultant for the day care, it’s about creating a continuum of care for these New Yorkers.
“It’s interactive,” said Alverado. “It’s not your typical four walls and here’s something to read, absolutely not. It’s all interactive, and that’s the goal of La Isla.
Alverado says he’s glad the Bronx has access to this type of care for seniors that’s not only focused on physical care, but nurturing and helping them enjoy life.
