A Bronx animal shelter that prides itself on its "no kill" policy is in danger of shutting down because it doesn't have the funds to stay open.

NYC's Top Dog on Newbold Avenue is a last resort for many animals to avoid being euthanized. Owner Pedro Rosario says he opened up shop in 2010 after 16 years of working with the city's Animal Care and Control Department.

He has two people on payroll, and the rest are volunteers who help care for the 60 cats and 30 dogs at the shelter. With a $4,600-per-month rent and other costs, Rosario says he won't be able to stay open for much longer without donations.

The shelter could possibly close in July.
