A bicyclist from the Bronx was killed after colliding with a pedestrian in Central Park earlier this week.

The incident happened on Wednesday just before 6 p.m. at East 97th Street and East Drive, according to police. Salvador Nico-Garcia, 43, was riding his bicycle on East Drive when he collided with a 41-year-old pedestrian who was crossing at the crosswalk. Nico-Garcia was ejected from his bike and struck his head on the curb. EMS took him to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition where he later died.

The pedestrian sustained minor injuries to his left hand and refused medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing by NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
