Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson hosted Thursday the third annual Iftar Dinner Dialogue.

Iftar is when Muslims break their fast for the day at sunset during the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time in which Muslims worldwide fast, pray, reflect, and gather with their community.

"This is really a time of great reflection of just the foundation of our faith, and bringing together Muslim leaders from all across the Bronx. This is really important for me as Bronx borough president to make sure that we recognize you know. What's been happening, and the assault on Muslim New Yorkers, Islamophobia is very real and xenophobia and we want to make sure we combat hate, but we promote love," Gibson said.

Ramadan will continue through April 9 and end with the holiday Eid Al-fitr, or the "festival of the breaking of the fast" on April 10.
