The shakeup in the 2024 election is bringing plenty of opinions and reactions – including from local elected officials and Bronx residents.
After President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race, he also endorsed Harris to take the helm for the Democratic Party.
Harris, who is already the first Black female vice president, could make even more history in November.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson was one of 44,000 women to pledge their support for Harris via Zoom Sunday. In just three hours, they raised over $1 million in donations.
"I think it's really an important moment in our history when Kamala Harris can reenergize the Democratic Party and get us back together to mobilize and to be strategic about moving the Democratic Party forward,” says Gibson.
Harris praised Biden during her first remarks since announcing her run for the White House.
One Bronx resident told News 12, they were just excited for a younger option for the White House.
"We finally got some youth. The younger people should be happy that the old guard is moving over, letting some young blood in there. Let's not forget a female,” they said.
