When a California man moved his family to the Bronx, he brought traditional Mexican apparel to the borough.
Ivan Orduna says he still remembers the culture shock moving from California to New York in 1994.
"From the time we got here, it was rare to see certain Mexican businesses," Orduna says. "The Mexican community wasn't as big as it is now."
Ivan Orduna's father opened his very own authentic Mexican clothing store in Queens.
Zapateria Mexico has since opened two other shops in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
Orduna says everything in the store is transported from Mexico.
