Earlier this year, the Bronx Economic Development Corporation announced it would give money to five businesses through their inaugural BX Factor Small Business Challenge. For Green Canvas Productions, winning that challenge couldn’t have come at a better time.
“It's difficult to essentially develop the necessary capital and cash flow to showcase that you are a viable business,” said Gregory Hernandez, owner of the production company.
Hernandez was one of five finalists from among the over 100 participants who applied. The Bronx EDC awarded money to Green Canvas and four other Bronx entrepreneurs to support their work.
Green Canvas’ Port Morris studio will open on July 1 to rent for photo shoots, commercials, music videos and more.
With the Grand Concourse Plaza Cinemas closing, Hernandez says that it’s that much more important to support businesses and the arts in the Bronx.
