The New York Yankees brought the American League’s best record into the Division Series Saturday night against the Kansas City Royals – and fans and businesses alike were ready for playoff baseball.
"All the businesses thrive off of the postseason, so we are just looking forward to it. We have increased our staff, and we have doubled our inventory," said Shiela Smith, owner of Dugout.
Ballpark Sports manager Yousef Abbadi told News 12 that they anticipated even more business than what they get for rival games. And the increase in customers comes at a great time because in recent years they saw a drop in sales.
“[In] 2023, it started to decline. Hopefully with the postseason, we can balance the books from the previous years,” Abbadi said.
The Yankees defeated the Royals 6-5 to win Game 1.
Game 2 is on Monday night.
