A Bronx church's mission to help families on the hurricane-ravaged island of Barbuda has hit a roadblock.
Pastor John Harris, of Ebenezer Pilgrim Holiness Church, is looking to come to the aid of his homeland of Barbuda.
Since Hurricane Irma tore through the tiny Caribbean island in September, Harris, his congregation and several neighboring houses of worship have been collecting items and raising money to send to hurricane victims.
The only problem is that for weeks, the donated supplies have been sitting idle. The church is trying to find a reputable organization to partner with. The church previously sent over 100 boxes and 60 barrels to Barbuda, but Harris says some of those boxes are now unaccounted for.
Harris says he wants to make sure the shipments get to hurricane-devastated families still struggling for the basics.
The congregation and several other churches have also raised more than $20,000 for Barbuda and neighboring islands still trying to rebuild.
