Bronx community holds prayer vigil for 11-month-old shot in the face in Fordham

Police say two suspects are still at large at this time. Officers say surveillance video shows one man was chasing the other and fired two shots.

The Bronx community held a prayer vigil Friday night for an 11-month-old girl who was shot in the face and is now recovering in the hospital. 
The baby girl was shot Thursday night at the corner of East 198th Street and Valentine Avenue. 
Mayor Eric Adams and Rep. Adriano Espilliat showed their solidarity with the family and stopped by nearby businessessaying gun violence needs to stop in our city. 
Authorities tell News 12 the infant underwent surgery Friday morning and is in critical but stable condition at this time. 
Police say two suspects are still at large at this time. Officers say surveillance video shows one man was chasing the other and fired two shots. 
However, police say the bullet ended up striking the girl. Officers say the infant was being held by her mother inside of a car at the time of the incident, while her father was inside a nearby grocery store. 
Police say her mom ran into the deli frantically looking for help. The baby was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital before being transferred to Manhattan Hospital.
