A newly formed partnership could make receiving a college degree easier for a number of Bronx students.
Bronx Community College, Hostos Community College and Lehman College have come together to start a reverse-transfer program.
If a student transfers from Hostos or Bronx Community, before attaining an associate degree, they would also earn those credits at Lehman, allowing them to work toward that degree before getting a bachelor's.
When a student hits 60 credits, their respective college is notified of this. The school will then validate the credits and determine where they would be eligible to receive an associate's.
Ricardo Fernandez, president of Lehman College, says he hopes this program serves as a model for other schools in the CUNY system.
