New coronavirus regulations are a hurdle for restaurant owners, and the hot weather is adding a new challenge as indoor dining remains off limits.
Antonio's Trattoria is just off the beaten path of Arthur Avenue in the Belmont section of the Bronx. It's already dealing with a little less foot traffic, but facing hot weather, the eatery is finding ways to work around it.
Unable to provide customers a cool environment to cool off with air conditioning, the trattoria has set up tents and umbrellas to provide shade so meals can be enjoyed with relief from the blazing sun.
The manager says customers always call to see if indoor dining is available yet, but the answer remains no because of strict regulations from the state.
