A Bronx father was sentenced Tuesday in the death of his newborn baby boy. 

Christian Rodriguez was sentenced to 12 years for the 2019 child abuse death of his 1-month-old son, Aiden. Rodriguez will also face 5 years' post supervision. 

Under a plea bargain, Rodriguez pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree in the killing of his newborn son in March of 2019. 

Prosecutors say the man slammed his newborn son, who was just 38 days old, to the ground after the infant wouldn’t stop crying. 

The baby suffered a skull fracture, brain trauma and several other injuries.  He later died from those injuries at a hospital.  

Initially, Rodriguez told police that his newborn son struck his tiny head on a doorframe while he was trying to maneuver a stroller into his bedroom with Aiden in his arms.  

Authorities say Rodriguez later confessed to deliberately throwing his infant son to the floor because the baby was crying too much. 

Family members of Rodriguez who were in court refused to talk to reporters.
