Bronx inmate convicted of slashing corrections officer with razorblade

A Bronx man was convicted of attacking a federal corrections officer with a razorblade inside a New York City prison.

Prosecutors say 34-year-old Mario Powell slashed the officer’s neck at the Metropolitan Correction Center in 2020.

He was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of an illegal weapon at a correctional facility.

He faces up to 25 years in prison, according to authorities. His sentencing is scheduled for November.
