A Bronx man who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his teenage neighbor over a parking dispute was denied bail.
Investigators say Vladimir Lopez German, 45, stabbed Dominic Cruz Aguilera, 19, in the chest on April 19.
Prosecutors say Lopez German, a cab driver, went out to his car parked on Inwood Avenue off Featherbed Lane that morning when he was blocked in by a double-parked car. Aguilera's family says Lopez German knocked on their apartment door and demanded someone to move the car.
The Bronx District Attorney's Office says Aguilera went down to move the car while Lopez German waited for 10 minutes for him to get out of the car and approached him with a knife in his pocket. Investigators say surveillance video and witnesses at the scene saw a physical fight break out between the two, before Lopez German pulled the knife and stabbed Aguilera in the chest.
Prosecutors say Lopez German told his friend he was going to "do something stupid" moments before the encounter.
After the attack, Lopez German’s brother booked a one-way flight for him to the Dominic Republic. However, his attorney said he did not board that flight and instead turned himself in seven hours later.
Aguilera's family was present in the courtroom.
"He destroyed this family, he destroyed me, he killed him but he killed us as well and he has to pay for that" said Elba Deleon, Aguilera's cousin.
Lopez German has no previous criminal record. He is due back in court in October.
