Bronx man sentenced to 24 years in prison in connection to death of his mother

yesterdayA Bronx man was sentenced Friday to 24 years in prison in connection to the death of his mother in 2020.
Steven Castro was arrested not long after 66-year-old Carmen Aponte was found dead in her home on Seneca Avenue in Hunts Point in October 2020.
Castro, 40, was in custody on charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
Castro's sister, Amy Castro, spoke in court saying that despite the impact his decision had on her life and the entire family, she forgives him.
His sentence also includes 5 years post release supervision.
