A Bronx mother is in critical condition Thursday after she was struck by a van at East 183rd Street and Grand Concourse as her children watched, witnesses said.
According to witnesses, the woman was crossing the street, without using the pedestrian crosswalk, to meet her children, who were waiting for her on the other side.
Witnesses say the vehicle was going at full speed and crashed into another car from the impact of the collision, which launched the victim?s body 10-15 feet into the air.
Two other people, who were involved in the accident, were taken to area hospitals.
Police blocked off the middle lanes of the Grand Concourse between 182nd and 184th streets for several hours while they investigated the incident. Those lanes have since been re-opened.
