Thousands lined the streets in Manhattan Sunday for the annual Puerto Rican Day parade.
In addition to music, food and floats, special honors were given to first responders who helped after Hurricane Maria tore through the island.
A group of displaced Puerto Ricans now living in New York also marched in the parade.
"Puerto Rican pride is proud to be Puerto Rican, proud to be from a beautiful, beautiful island," said Bronx native, Jason Gonzalez. "I think this hurricane is going to make us stronger. We're going to move forward and we are going to be the best that we could possibly ever be."
