As the monkeypox outbreak continues in New York City, officials in the Bronx are working to get the word out about vaccinations and clear up any misconceptions.
Bronx Borough President Venessa Gibson’s Office held a Town Hall Monday at the New Settlement Community Center to discuss the latest information about the disease with medical experts.
The city’s Health Department reported 2,375 cases of monkeypox.
Speakers say that progress in outreach and education has been made since monkeypox was declared a public health emergency.
Doctors say there is still new information coming out about the disease and it's important to stay up to date.
One doctor says while vaccine availability is out of the city’s control, the state has shared some of its doses with the city.
