A local organization in the Bronx joined forces with Amazon to hand out essentials on the Grand Concourse on Tuesday.
Dozens of boxes arrived at the Concourse House, one of three shelters and a public school that received nearly $8,000 in donations. The 4Bronx Project says that the donations are focused on women’s needs in honor of Women’s History Month.
“They each made a wish list from Amazon for $2,000 to get essentials that they need for their women,” said Laura Levine-Pinedo, founder of 4Bronx. “So feminine hygiene products, diapers, clothing… There are many women right now living in shelters. And, you know, a lot of people are struggling right now.”
Levine-Pinedo says the initiative flourished into a community-wide effort with a goal to provide more essentials for all families.
