A Riverdale realtor says he denied a rental request from Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who wanted to stay in homes during the U.N. General Assembly meeting in Manhattan.

John Fitzgerald, a home developer, says Gadhafi's aides requested a rental without identifying themselves or wiring money. Fitzgerald says they offered to pay $60,000 for a six-day stay in two homes.

Fitzgerald says he denied Gadhafi's request because he didn't want to rent to a leader who condones terrorism. Gadhafi recently came under fire after the Libyan man convicted of the 1988 bombing of a Scottish plane, which killed 259 people, was released and returned to a hero's welcome in Libya.
