Probationary Police Officer Kareem Khalil is one of over 600 probationary police officers to graduate from the academy on Monday.

Khalil is no stranger to adversity. At the age of 16, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. Now, the 23-year-old says he hopes his story serves as motivation.

"I just want to lead them to a path where it doesn't have to be law enforcement, but just anywhere that's off the streets," said Khalil.

News 12's Elly Morillo talks about his journey and why he's grateful for what's next.
