A Bronx resident living on East 187th Street says he is at a loss for words over the current living conditions in his home.
Brian Williams has lived in his Belmont apartment for over 10 years and is looking to move. He showed News 12 the mold and dead roaches in his home that have taken over and posed a risk to his health.
A report from the city’s Housing Preservation and Development department shows that Williams has placed over 30 complaints since 2022 – one of those made for a ceiling collapse that happened last February.
Williams says that while temporary fixes have been made, nothing has improved and that the situation has pushed him to stop paying rent.
Councilmember Oswald Feliz is now working with Williams to help him find new housing.
News 12 has reached out to the building’s management team and is awaiting a response.
