New York City outdoor pools are supposed to be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Some pools, like Thompson Pool in Soundview, have had closures.
Bronx residents say they are unaware of it until they come to the park.
“They did not give us a reason why it's closed. We came prepared to enjoy the pool and there is no explanation, " said Yajaira Germoso.
Around 12 p.m., Notify NYC posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Thompson Pool would be closed until Wednesday.
With the pool being closed on a hot summer day, families had to find other ways to keep cool like going into the sprinklers.
“Since the pool is closed at least we can enjoy the area. There is fresh air and the fire hydrant is running," said Germoso.
Around 2 p.m., News 12 saw Parks Department workers pouring cleaner in the pools and removing leaves.
Later on, around 4 p.m., there was a line of kids outside the pool waiting with anticipation for it to open.
News 12 reached out to the Parks Department, and it said the pool was closed to address a water quality issue. Meanwhile, the city has said that pool hours would be extended to 8 p.m. when a heat advisory is in effect. The Parks Department also has updates on closures and where to find the nearest pools
