Bronx residents are giving back to the community this holiday season.

An event called Cranksgiving has cyclists compete to see who can accumulate the most points by purchasing food donations and bringing them to the Betances Community Center in two and a half hours or less using a map and a list of supermarkets in three zones.

The event was created by Edmundo Martinez three years ago.

This year BronxWorks, which runs the Betances Community Center, will be hosting a food drive open to the community.

Last year, the organization hosted a food workshop to teach community members how to make healthy food. After the workshop, they gave attendees those food items. In years prior, the organization gave donated food items, which included baby food to a homeless shelter.
