Some Bronx residents say they are waiting in line for hours just to get a parking spot.
Neighbors say a recent change made by the city's Department of Transportation has them frustrated. Residents now have to sign up for a pass to gain access to five parking garages in the borough. Since the passes are limited, many residents have waited in lines for hours to get one.
Neighbors who use the Jerome Avenue parking garage say they feel like they are being pushed out. They say they have no other choice but to use the garage since they have no driveways or off-street parking available to them, making the parking garage their only option.
Drivers say the new system was designed to allow students and faculty at nearby Monroe College to get parking spots. They want the DOT to think of a new way to handle the demand.
News 12 reached out to the DOT, but they have not yet responded.
