Bronx bus service scored a barely passing grade of C- for overall performance on the local bus rider report cards that were released Saturday morning.
Bronx residents were given the forms in March and asked to rate their buses on categories like seat availability and cleanliness. Customers gave the lowest grade, D+, to such categories as bus operating according to schedule and reasonable wait time between buses.
"Sometimes it's quick, but most of the time it takes a while," says rider Sean Stone.
Proving to be tough graders, the highest mark customers gave to local buses was a B. No category was awarded an A.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials say plans are under way to make improvements on buses, beginning with the introduction of select bus service and increasing attention to sanitation and maintenance, but they say they realize this is not the end of the road.
