Bronx Charter School for Excellence Two is celebrating a national honor after the U.S. Department of Education awarded them with a national Blue Ribbon.
Those in grades kindergarten through eighth grade at the school are not called students, but scholars.
“We have a very rigorous curriculum, and that’s what really started our scholars being prepared for standardized exams,” said elementary school Principal Sharleen Morris.
The school’s administration says that when it’s time for these scholars to go up to high school, there is a dedicated team that helps them with placement.
“We teach parents and scholars to rise up, which is to be responsible, have integrity, be successful, demonstrate etiquette, unity, and pride,” said Adije Okpo, middle school principal at Bronx Excellence Two.
Each classroom is dedicated to a different college – and it goes beyond the classroom. College flags are hung up across the school, and school leaders say it exposes children to the potential available to them if they apply themselves to their schoolwork.
