Some Bronx high school students took an interactive approach to education Wednesday by putting their green thumbs to work.
Bronx International High School features three hydroponics systems designed and built entirely by students as part of a living environment curriculum for over 200 high schoolers.
The program was introduced in January and the pioneering class grew basil, lettuce and peppers indoors and without soil.
The plants are harvested every nine weeks, and students are able to take the crops home.
Students say they hope to take what they learned in the unique classroom and use it in their everyday lives.
